WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT

Replacing the windshield on your RV/Motorhome is a technical endeavor that should only be performed by experienced technicians.  Krax Glass technicians have  a minimum five years of experience and some have over 20.   We will do a professional replacement for you!

Typically, the time required to replace a class A motorhome with a one piece windshield is 2-3 hours.  If your coach is a two piece type body then each side can take 1-2 hours.   If it is an older model and needs the gasket replaced and both sides the time can be 3-4 hours.

Preperation for windshield replacement is pretty straight forward.   Remove all items off the dashboad and lift all inside screens and remove outside windshield cover.  Make sure the floor near the front seats are clear of debris.  If the coach is a newer Winnebago, remove items from the overhead cabenet outer door areas.   Pull in any slides and make sure the coach is level.

After the windshield has been replaced, we recommend Class A motorhomes with one piece glue in windshields are not moved for 24 hours.  If it is a one piece gasket set, the coach can be moved in about 4-6 hours.  If the coach has two windshields, the wait time should be 4-6 hours.  The wait time is to make sure the urethane adhesive sets up so the coach is safe to drive.

If we are providing mobile service, the coach at your location must be level, slides in and 30 feet of clearance to the front of the coach.  We also need about 2-3 feet of clearance from each side of the coach for ladders.

INSURANCE BILLING

Krax Glass can bill your insurance company directly, you will be responsible for the deductible portion.  First you need to call your insurance company's claims line and report the claim.  Make sure you tell them you have a glass shop (Krax Glass) that will be doing the glass repair.  Sometimes you will have to give them our phone number (208-991-9943) so they identify our shop.  Once you have set up the claim, your insurance company will email us the information.  Then we send them pricing information and wait for the approval.  Once we have the pricing approval we will order the glass and schedule a date that is convenient for you for the install.

 POP OUT PROBLEMS

Krax Glass offers pop out repair in most cases.  Improper use of leveling jacks is the number one source of windshields pop out problems, but there are other pop out hazards too.  Taking the coach off road is a huge problem because of the uneven terrain bouncing the motorhome  around.  Another issue can be improper cut of the front cap opening that houses the windshield to the coach.  If the cut is too big the windshields can be loose in there gasket.  Finally, an improper glass replacement install can be a cause of pop out problems.  The last glass technician may have forgot to glue the gasket to the body or glue the windshield to the gasket.

SIDE GLASS

We do side & back glass replacement on travel trailers, 5th wheels and motorhomes.  Sometimes a new factory frame is no longer available, we can custom make a window to fit your existing frame in most cases.  We can repair dual pane foggy glass in certain cases but cannot offer a warranty because they usually fail over time.  The foggy repair would be to get you back on the road for an up coming trip or to sell the RV.
